Adorabolical Conquers the Grove of Shrooms

Description

"Mushroom trees and smaller fungi dominate this once peaceful cave."

Vechs and Aureylian take a breather after a hard fight to conquer the Grove of ssShrooms; another location in Super Hostile - Waking Up.

Around the time I made Adorabolical Conquers Blast Arrow Castle I dabbed around with a bunch of thumbnails for the Waking Up locations. The other day I came across a very primitive Grove of ssShrooms picture and thought it had a lot of potential. Sticking with the theme of "Adorabolical Conquers..." I took the in-game location and gave it a presentation overhaul. While I don't focus too much on gameplay I do keep it in the back of my mind and take lots of artistic liberties at the same time. For example, the entire cave is an uphill battle where your lights wont easily reach the higher ground, but the entire place is supposed to be covered in grass/moss which isn't supposed to be available yet (though green clay would work as a substitute).
Although the original Grove had no ruins, perhaps some ancient culture lived in this cave and used it as a sanctuary of sorts. Or, the way I imagine Waking Up, a Lich devoted his unending life to crafting dungeons for his victims to crawl through and, more often then not, die in. Evil Lich or ancient culture, either way somebody marked the presence of the orange wool with a small temple.

As always, credit to Vechs for the original Grove of ssShrooms.

For the record: if you're wondering why there is a teal orb beside the title, here's a link: youtu.be/SCmdYD8W1Qw?t=6m40s
It's a call back to Vechs' Waking Up Dev Commentary from 2012; he was dwelling on that predicament for quite some time and I thought maybe this would remind him of that pain.
